Finalists for Cumbria Family Business Awards announced

The M6 was busier than usual on Wednesday as judges from the north, south, east and west of Cumbria converged on Enterprise Answers in Penrith. Grahame Latus our generous host and sponsor got out the TrayBakes and lovely Louise got the kettle on for the endless brews and we sat down to watch the debate. Graham Lamont of Lamont Pridmore acted as chair for the day and his sense of humour kept us going throughout, whilst his keen eye for the financial side of thjudging-day-photo-2ings was without question. Each judge brought their own skills to the day, Dave Clarkson of Armstrong Watson understood the sense of heart behind the businesses, Jacqui Jackson of Bruce and Lukes and Jardine Jackson Associates gave clarity and kept focus, Grahame Latus had some invaluable insight behind many of the applications and Andy Beeforth of Cumbria Community Foundation whilst appreciating the community element was very much focussed on innovation and future of the businesses. Paul Andrews who joined us remotely from London has been dubbed the Simon Cowell of the judging panel but with good reason, ultimately the finalists could not only win their sector but also enter the second round of judging for the national Family Business of the Year Awards, which he runs through Family Business United. There is much at stake!

The decisions were not easy to arrive at, over 100 applications have now been shortlisted to 33 finalists…and what a shortlist.

Cumbria Family Business Awards sponsored by Lamont Pridmore in association with Enterprise Answers are delighted to announce their final shortlist.
The  Outstanding Cumbria Business of the Year sponsored by Enterprise Answers will be announced from one of these finalists on the night. The Employee of the Year sponsored by Armstrong Watson will also be announced from Employee of the Year Category below (and one other who wants to keep it secret from their employee).
