Enterprise Answers make all the difference

The team met with Grahame Latus one of the main sponsors for the Cumbria Family Business Awards to talk about why he wanted to get involved. Meeting Grahame is always a pleasure, we visited his offices in Penrith on a typically Cumbrian day and were welcomed with a cup of tea and cake from Traybakes, which is five star treatment in our book!

Grahame’s enthusiasm for entrepreneurs is boundless and the more we learnt about Enterprise Answers it became clearer to see why he has faith in businesses where others don’t. Having brought many Cumbrian businesses to life we wanted to understand more about Enterprise  Answers so Grahame talked us through some of the family businesses they have worked with and the change they could help bring.

“The difference our funding makes is often the difference between a business happening or not, we lend where the standard banks can’t or won’t and we adopt a more flexible approach to assessing business propositions. When we see these peoples’ business plans it’s apparent these are sound business investments even though they are outside the norm.

I am immensely proud of the businesses we have helped over the years, many are now household names in our region and our involvement has ranged from funding to start up a cafe to helping an existing company launch a new range. Working with hard-working businesses and seeing their endeavours come off is part of the joy”

three-haresSophia spoke with James of Sedbergh based family business The Three Hares. James said:

“They (Enterprise Answers) were very supportive the whole way through. They lend with a personal touch and came to see us regularly to see how we were progressing and give guidance.”

This level of interest is rarely seen from the ‘big boys’ and as Cumbria Family Business Awards is in its first year we too are grateful for the financial backing Grahame and his team have given to the event itself.

Enterprise Answers seem to know how to back a winner and The Three Hares along with previous clients Baba Ganoush have both recently made The Guardian Best 50 Breakfast List, no mean feat! Other businesses they have supported continue to represent the best that Cumbria has to offer and include Cumbria Crystal, Mr Vikkis, and Town Head Farm near Penrith. We hope to make Enterprise Answers proud sponsors and do keep your eye out for Grahame on the night, he’s a lovely chap and always open to new ideas. He could be the difference to your business in 2017! enterprise-answers
